Welcome to the first official posting on the brand new Shirlington Relief Society blog. I know many of you have been waiting for the post. First up I will go ahead and let you know that I think faster than I type so I make no promises about grammar and punctuation. So no judgement. Also I want you to know that I will not be the only author of this blog, I will sending out requests for special guest bloggers and I know that you will all be fabulous at writing little bits and blurbs for me.
Our Inaugural Soiree was held on Thursday June 2nd at 7:30. We started off with a get to know you game, where we set out to get as many signatures from the group as possible. There was a prize involved so I put my game face on and squeaked out a victory over Jen F. and won a de-lish pie from Emily H. We then had a lovely mini-devotional by our fearless leader Jenny R. It was really good and uplifting, I can't for the life of me remember what it was about, but I am sure the rest of you do, and feel free to comment and remind me of the subject matter. I am sure everyone has heard of speed-dating, well we one-upped it and had a rousing round of speed-friending. We learned many fun and interesting facts about each other. For instance did you know that Catherine L's worst hairdo involved a home perm, and Blythe's guilty pleasure is romance novels. Or perhaps you didn't know that Bethany S. was named after a road, and that Natasha hates to be micro-managed, or that Jenn J. would love to spend a day with Frank Lloyd Wright. These are just a few things that I learned, and I have to say that I am very excited to find out even more about all of you now that our ward has downsized and our crowd is much more manageable.
